DECOR MYTHS

DECOR MYTH NO 1:  BLUE & GREEN SHOULD NEVER BE SEEN!

Analogous Colour Scheme

If we just look outside--nature shows us stunning blue and green!

A colour scheme using three colours beside each other on the colour wheel is called Analogous. Imagine a look with blue and green...and cyan in between!

The key to using Analogous colours is to use different shades.  Vary the shades according to this 60-30-10 'Golden Rule' of design.  Using percentages creates balance and harmony.

To sum up:  create your stunning Analogous colour scheme with these gorgeous colours!

DECOR MYTH NO 2:  FURNITURE HAS TO BE MATCHY, MATCHY

Remember the days when dining, living and bedroom furniture came in sets?

The sofa had matching chairs and the coffee and end tables all matched. The same with the bedroom--the night tables matched not only the headboard but the triple and high dressers? These sets also came with identical lamps!

Over the years we've seen the interior decorating world evolve from traditional to a more transitional look. Dining sets have a mix of chairs and casual chairs are paired with sofas and loveseats in living rooms!

Don't want to give away that vintage console table, dresser or buffet? Upcycle it with chalk paint and add it to your decor as a gorgeous statement piece!

To sum up:  It's OK to mix things up
